Our History
The COVID-19 pandemic triggered one of the worst jobs crises and there is still a real danger that the crisis is increasing poverty and widening inequalities, with the impact felt for years to come. Entreprenuers now need to do everything they can to stop this jobs crisis from turning into a social crisis. Reconstructing a better and more resilient labour market is an essential investment in the future and in future generations.
Thus driven by the love of coffee and the goal to create job creation that enhance youth productivity and livelihoods , Perpetue Mukamusinga founded IBTC Ltd in April 2021 with a core mission of providing the best education, training, resources and business services. She , at heart, wants each of her students to thrive in the specialty coffee industry and at the end of the day - find a lifelong treasure of career destiny.
Since the introduction of coffee trees to Rwanda by missionaries in 1904, coffee has progressed to become one of the country’s largest cash crops. About 95% of beans are the high quality Arabica varietal Bourbon, with a silky creamy body and hints of lemon and orange blossom, and caramel in the aftertaste.
With the rapid growth industry in the country, IBTC has been setting the standards for the coffee world. As the original coffee school, the centre has maintained the highest standards for barista training and continues to teach the most cutting-edge concepts to coffee professionals.
